YOUR DATA, EXPLAINED

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Your saved research stays in your Chrome profile. ExtensionPay and Stripe handle membership and payments; Vercel hosts this website.

What this policy covers

Sortyx is operated by Parker Nugent, based in Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how Parker Nugent, operating as Sortyx (we, us or our), handles information when you use the Sortyx browser extension, visit https://sortyx.app, purchase a subscription or contact us. Sortyx helps you research Instagram and TikTok posts by sorting their performance, saving references and downloading or exporting selected content. For privacy questions, contact support@sortyx.app.

Information processed by the extension

When you use Sortyx on Instagram or TikTok, it reads supported page content and relevant platform responses to identify posts and their performance. This can include profile names or usernames, post identifiers and URLs, captions, thumbnails and media URLs, timestamps, feed order, and counts such as likes, views, comments and shares. Some of this information may identify creators or other people. Sortyx accesses only content available to your browser under your existing platform access; it does not bypass account or privacy restrictions.

The extension uses browser tab information to identify supported pages and connect its controls to the page you are using. It does not build or upload a general browsing-history profile or read private messages for its research features.

If you save posts, the extension stores post metadata, favourites, folder names and folder assignments in local extension storage in your Chrome profile. Your saved research is not uploaded to a Sortyx research database or synchronized between devices. Saved items contain metadata and links; they do not store video files in the saved library. Images and media may be requested from the original platform or its delivery networks when displayed or downloaded. Downloaded videos, ZIP files and CSV exports are saved separately on your device.

Sortal/Sortyx development versions may have preserved older local library copies during a storage migration. These copies remain in the browser profile for recovery and are not uploaded to us.

Membership and payments

Sortyx uses ExtensionPay to check paid access, offer subscriptions, restore purchases and manage subscription status. The extension communicates with ExtensionPay even when checking an unpaid installation. ExtensionPay creates an installation identifier or access token and receives normal request information, such as an IP address. Membership records may include your email address, installation and payment dates, plan details, subscription status and cancellation date.

The ExtensionPay library stores its access token, installation information and cached membership record using Chrome sync storage, with local storage as a fallback. Depending on your browser settings, that membership information may therefore be synchronized through Chrome. This is separate from your saved research library, which stays local.

Stripe processes payments through checkout opened by ExtensionPay. Stripe and ExtensionPay may receive billing/contact details and transaction information needed for payment, receipts, subscription management and fraud prevention. Sortyx does not receive or store your full payment-card number or card security code. We may access customer email addresses, subscription records, transaction details and limited payment information through our provider dashboards for support, accounting, refunds and disputes.

The Sortyx pricing page sends the selected monthly or annual interval to the installed extension and receives connection/checkout results. This website bridge does not receive your saved research, membership email, payment credentials or ExtensionPay access token.

Website, cookies and support

Our website is hosted by Vercel. When you visit it, hosting infrastructure processes request information such as your IP address, browser/device information, requested URL, request time and response details to deliver the site and support operations and security. Operational logs may be available to us through the hosting service. We do not intentionally include personal or payment information in website URLs.

The current Sortyx website and extension do not include our own advertising trackers or analytics SDKs, and the website does not provide a separate Sortyx login. Fonts are served with our application rather than requested from Google Fonts. Hosting/security services and external checkout or account pages may use their own cookies or similar technologies under their own notices.

If you contact support@sortyx.app, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, subscription details, screenshots or diagnostic reports. TikTok troubleshooting tools can create a report containing technical page/component information, post identifiers, URLs, errors and code excerpts. Reports are kept locally and are not automatically uploaded to us; we receive them only if you choose to share them. Review reports and screenshots before sending them and do not include passwords, payment-card details or other unnecessary sensitive information.

How we use information

We use information to provide sorting and research controls, save and organize references, perform user-requested downloads and exports, verify subscription access, restore purchases, process payments and subscription changes, answer support requests, diagnose faults, protect the service and meet applicable accounting or legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or saved research, use extension browsing data for advertising, or send your saved research to an AI model or transcription service. The current extension does not provide cloud research storage or an AI transcription service.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we rely on performing our service or subscription agreement, legitimate interests such as security and responding to support requests, legal obligations such as accounting, and consent where required. Information handled under consent can be withdrawn by contacting us or stopping the relevant optional activity.

Sharing and third-party services

Your browser exchanges information with Instagram, TikTok and their media delivery networks to load posts and perform downloads. Those platforms receive these requests under their own practices, including the normal operation of your existing signed-in browser session. Sortyx does not send your social-platform passwords to us or to ExtensionPay.

We use ExtensionPay and Stripe for membership and payments, and Vercel for website hosting. They handle information necessary for those functions and may process some information for their own security, legal or other disclosed purposes. Their practices are explained in their own privacy notices. We do not share your saved library with these providers for billing or hosting.

Information you choose to give us for support may be processed by the email or communication provider used to handle that request. We may also disclose information where required by law, to address fraud or security incidents, or to establish or defend legal claims. If Sortyx changes ownership, necessary service records may transfer subject to this policy and applicable notice requirements.

Human access to information derived from extension browsing activity is limited to what you specifically agree to share for support or troubleshooting, what is necessary for security or legal compliance, or appropriately aggregated information that does not identify individual users. We do not have a dashboard for reading your local saved research.

Retention and deletion

Current scans and working download data are used while the relevant feature runs; some working state may remain until the page, extension or browser session ends. Saved research and local diagnostics can remain in your browser profile until removed or the extension’s storage is cleared. Losing Pro access does not automatically delete saved research.

You can remove accessible saved posts and folders through Sortyx. To remove all local extension data, including migration recovery copies or diagnostics not removed by those controls, clear Sortyx’s extension storage or remove the extension. We cannot remotely retrieve or erase files or research stored only on your device. Downloaded/exported files must be deleted separately. Chrome-synchronized membership data is subject to your browser’s sync/storage controls.

Subscription and transaction records, support messages and operational records are retained for as long as necessary to provide the service, resolve requests or disputes, prevent abuse and satisfy applicable legal/accounting requirements. Providers have their own retention schedules. We do not promise immediate deletion of records that must be retained by law.

Uninstalling Sortyx, deleting local storage or making a privacy request does not cancel a subscription. Use Manage subscription in the extension to cancel it. Contact us if you need help with cancellation, account information or a deletion request.

Security and international processing

Production website and provider connections use HTTPS. Access to research and membership features is restricted through the extension’s browser permissions and message validation. Local extension storage and downloaded files rely on browser and device protections; Sortyx does not add its own encryption to your saved library. No method of storage or transmission can guarantee complete security.

Our hosting, membership, payment and support providers may process information outside your country. Applicable privacy protections may differ. Where legally required, international processing must use appropriate safeguards; provider notices describe their processing locations and transfer arrangements.

Your choices and rights

You can stop page processing by disabling or removing the extension or changing its permitted site access in Chrome. You can choose not to purchase, not to save/export content, or not to send optional support information. Restricting access or removing membership data may prevent related features from working.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information we hold, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to the relevant privacy regulator. Contact support@sortyx.app to make a request. We may need to verify your identity without requesting unnecessary information. These rights can have legal exceptions, and we cannot retrieve data stored only on your device.

Sortyx is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address it.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Sortyx’s use of information received through Chrome extension permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use that information only to provide or improve the prominently described, user-facing research features; transfer it only as necessary for those features, with your agreement, or as permitted for security and legal purposes; and do not use it for advertising or sell it. Human access is limited as described above.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when our features, providers or data practices change. The updated version will show a new date. We will provide any additional notice or obtain consent required for material changes under applicable law.
